This TIE variant was developed during the downfall of the Empire. As The Imperial Navy lost more and more decisive battles against the rebels, it was agreed among tacticians that the standard TIE Fighter needed a modification to help it operate without the support of a larger capital ship. The TIE Outlander wings fold and it has retractable landing gear. With the ability to now land on planet surfaces and on rough terrain, fighter squadrons could refuel and resupply in small independent factions. This seemingly small modification allowed remnants of the fleet to operate effectively in the Outer Rim for many more years.

This model can seat a minifigure pilot and has a display stand design.
